Drawings & Permits
Our buildings include standard generic drawings, available in Risk I ($350 per structure) and Risk II ($350 per structure). At least one of these is required. We strongly recommend that customers contact their local permit office to confirm what documents are needed. Our standard drawings are designed to meet wind and snow requirements within our service areas; however, some permit offices may request site-specific drawings. Please reach out if you need more details about these. In some cases, permits may also require drawings that are officially signed and sealed in blue ink by a certified engineer.
Investing Time in Verifying Local Building Codes Saves Money Later
Local City/Township
Most cities and townships have building codes to ensure new structures comply with local standards.
Local County
If you’re not within a city or township, your project may fall under county-level building codes — it's important to verify this.
HOA & Restrictions
Finally, make sure to check with your homeowners association to confirm any additional rules or restrictions that may apply.

Generic drawings: 2 types - RIsk I & II
All of our buildings are based on standard engineered drawings designed for installation within specific guidelines. If a project goes beyond those set parameters, it may require site-specific plans or wet-seal/stamped drawings.
Category Risk I
The buildings in this risk category group are buildings that exhibit the lowest hazard to life since they have few or no human occupants or are temporary, thus creating considerably less exposure to the hazards of earthquakes, floods, snow, and wind than that of a permanent structure.
This category includes agricultural facilities, temporary facilities, and “minor storage facilities”.
Category Risk II
The buildings in this risk category group contain living quarters (standard occupancy) or places of business.
These buildings require more detailed planning and compliance to ensure they meet local building codes and safety standards due to their intended use for habitation or commercial activities. We strongly suggest working with your local permitting office to determine the requirements for your specific job site.
SITE-SPECIFIC DRAWINGS
Price: Custom Quote Required per Structure
Note: Payment is required before the plans are ordered.
Customers are responsible for managing all permitting requirements, ensuring the installation site complies with local codes, and providing a level surface for the structure. Failure to adequately address these responsibilities may result in additional fees for materials, labor, and other unexpected costs.
By taking the initiative to verify with your local city/township, county, and homeowner’s association for any restrictions, and aligning your order with local building codes, you can avoid significant headaches and ensure that your structure is installed correctly and compliantly.
Additional costs may apply, varying based on your specific building specifications and the location of the job site, particularly concerning permitting and administrative requirements. Please inquire for detailed information based on your circumstances.
wet seal/stamp drawings
Price: Custom Quote Required per Structure
Note: Payment is required before the plans are ordered.
Wet seal/stamp drawings are available upon request for an additional fee. These are specialized architectural or engineering plans that are officially reviewed and stamped by a licensed professional engineer for your specific structure. This certification verifies that your building meets local code and regulation requirements—an essential step for permit approval. These drawings are typically the highest-cost option and are generally required only in high-risk zones where local inspection or permitting offices demand this level of documentation.

Some questions to ask your local permitting office:
- Can I place my structure exactly where I want it on my property?
- What is the largest building size I’m allowed to install on my specific lot?
- Are there setback or property line clearance requirements I need to follow?
- Do I need a building permit to install this structure?
- Will I need site-specific engineered plans for my building, or are the standard generic drawings enough?
